Our first DC:0-5 Community of Practice

FAIMH brings a new professional support centered on Zero to Three’s Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Childhood (DC:0-5). Led by a Zero to Three Certified Trainer of DC:0-5, this new offering is a Community of Practice (CoP) for mental health clinicians who are using the DC:0-5, or those who want to integrate it into their practice, but have not yet.

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of people who "share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly". The defining characteristics of a community of practice include a domain of knowledge, a sense of community and a practice:

  • Domain: A domain of knowledge creates common ground, inspires members to participate, guides their learning and gives meaning to their actions.
  • Community: The notion of a community creates the social fabric for that learning. A strong community fosters interactions and encourages a willingness to share ideas.
  • Practice: While the domain provides the general area of interest for the community, the practice is the specific focus around which the community develops, shares and maintains its core of knowledge.

FAIMH’s goal for this CoP is to support clinicians’ learning and use of this diagnostic system in their practice with young children and their families.

The CoP will be held monthly; you may register for the full 10-month series (and save on per-session cost), or register for each session individually as needed. The group will reflectively share cases using the DC:0-5 in a small group setting, with a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion aligned with the Diversity-Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families.

Bring your DC:0-5 Manual to each session, ready to participate and be an active member of the learning community.

Prerequisites:  Completion of a 2-Day DC:0-5 Training or 3-day Online DC:0-5 Training over the past 5 years.

Facilitator: Noemi Marquez, LCSW, IMH-E®, PhD Candidate

Location: online via Zoom.

Zoom link info will be sent to paid registrants approx. 24 hours before the training begins.

Open to: All FAIMH Members who are mental health clinicians using the DC:0-5, or those who want to integrate it into their practice, but have not yet.  Must have also completed the 2-Day DC:0-5 Training or 3-day Online DC:0-5 Training over the past 5 years.

FAIMH Members Only (membership required to register)

$500 for the full 10 month series or $75 for one session only.

Registration ends Friday 2/26 - We've built this CoP intentionally as a small group to provide you with an optimal community building & learning experience. We anticipate this CoP will fill up quickly. Once it is full, you may email us to be placed on the waitlist.

Technology Requirements:

To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, the program relies on online video conferencing, which has minimum requirements to work properly. You will need a desktop or laptop computer with speakers, microphone, and webcam, and a high-speed internet connection. Laptops work best because they come with all the necessary equipment and can easily be moved from room to room in your home or office to find a quiet place.

Policies: View our Training Academy Policy on attendance, payment, cancellation and more.
