Diversity-Informed Infant Mental Health Practice:  A Paradigm Shift in Honoring Others in Relationship

Cultivate a diversity-informed stance within our work to honor ethnicity and culture within relationships when working with, and on behalf of, young children and their caregivers.

This two-hour training will review the IMH Endorsement® Competency Guidelines relating to culture, and will provide an interactive learning experience to explore your cultural awareness in relationship with the clients (young children/families) you serve. The training aims to generate a more purposeful, thoughtful, and substantive orientation to  co-building and sustaining meaningful relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds within individuals and organizations.

Children and families are holding their relationships with the early childhood professional, relationship history, cultural lens, and much more. Explore ways we can contribute to powerful and positive bridge building across and through our relationships. We will consider...

  • How do issues of social injustice, structural racism, microaggression, and implicit bias impact these relationships and practices?
  • How do we shift our lens to better understand differences in families from diverse cultures?
  • What do you bring to relationship in terms of your experience and cultural lens to the relationships you create in your work with children and families?
