Zero to Three's Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC:0-5™) is the first developmentally based system for diagnosing mental health and developmental disorders in infants and toddlers.

Delivered by FAIMH Training Academy ZERO TO THREE Certified Trainers who are highly qualified with strong clinical skills and training experience.

Topics include:

  • Definitions of key concepts in infant and early childhood mental health as they relate to diagnostic formulation and approaches.
  • A review of the multi-axial framework
  • Approaches to infant and early childhood assessment and diagnosis (developmentally appropriate, relational and family-focused, contextually grounded, culturally competent, and strengths-based).
  • A brief review of:
    • Axis I—Clinical Disorders
    • Axis II—Relational Context
    • Axis III—Physical Health Conditions and Considerations
    • Axis IV—Psychosocial Stressors
    • Axis V—Developmental Competence
  • Understanding DC:0–5 in relation to other classifications such as ICD-10 and DSM-5

Trainer: Zero to Three Certified Trainer, Melissa Bradley, M.A., LMHC

Melissa has been pursuing her passion for helping young children since 2013 when she graduated with her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.  Since graduating, she has worked at The Florida Center for Early Childhood, a non-profit organization in Sarasota, Florida, whose mission is to help build and foster strong families and expand the potential of young children.  Over the past 9 years, Melissa has served in multiple leadership capacities at the organization, including the clinical director of the infant and early childhood mental health program, the director of school-based mental health services program, and currently, the clinical director of mental health services, which oversees five clinical programs for the organization. 

Melissa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a qualified supervisor for the Florida Board of Mental Health Counselors. Melissa is a certified Zero to Three trainer in the DC:0-5 (The Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood) and has completed specialized trainings in: Circle of Security Parenting, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).  Melissa is in the process of becoming vetted to receive the Infant-Mental Health Mentor Endorsement by the Florida Association of Infant Mental Health.  Melissa is a dedicated and passionate clinician who loves helping young children and their families thrive. 

 

Schedule & Agenda

Note: This 12-hour training takes place over three days.

Day 1: Tuesday October 25th 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST

Day 2: Wednesday October 26th 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST

Day 3: Thursday October 27th 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST

Open to all FAIMH Members and Florida residents ONLY. (Zero to Three Trainer Certification allows us to only train residents of our own state. Please do not register for this training if you live outside of Florida.) This training is for advanced practitioners such as mental health clinicians, mental health consultants, social workers, early intervention specialists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and nurse practitioners whose work with infants, young children, and their families involves assessment, diagnosis, and case formulation.

Agency Member Rate: $300 per person

FAIMH Member Rate: $350 for the full 3-session training series

Non-Member Rate: $400 for the full 3-session training series

NOTE: The DC:0-5 Manual is Required - Please purchase on your own, with enough time that you have it for Day 1 of the training. You may purchase from Zero to Three, or through an online bookseller.

Zoom link info will be sent to paid registrants several times beginning one week before the training begins.

Technology Requirements:

To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, the program relies on online video conferencing, which has minimum requirements to work properly. You will need a desktop or laptop computer with speakers, microphone, and webcam, and a high-speed internet connection. Laptops work best because they come with all the necessary equipment and can easily be moved from room to room in your home or office to find a quiet place.

Certificate: Upon successful completion of the DC 0-5 series, a certificate of completion will be earned. A certificate will only be provided to those who attended the full 3-session training series (12 hours).

CEUs: Continuing education (12 hours) for licensed clinical social workers, marriage & family therapists, and mental health counselors will be offered by the Florida Association for Infant Mental Health, an approved provider for continuing education by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (CE Provider #50-30846).

Continuing education (12 hours) for psychologists will be offered by the Florida Association for Infant Mental Health, an approved provider for continuing education by the Florida Board of Psychology (CE Provider # 50-30846).
