Reflective Supervision Through A Social Justice Lens

Description:

This training session will focus on Reflective Supervision Through A Social Justice Lens, an approach to supervision that begins with the personal self and extends to the professional self. We will discuss the integration of a social justice lens in reflective supervision using critical self-reflective practices to untangle our own multicultural identities, and its impact on relationships, our personal histories, identities, power, privilege, and the racial trauma experiences of supervisors-supervisees.  Structural and environmental conditions of the organization will be examined in the context of our multicultural identities in reflective relationships to explore the internal working model of our privileged, and subjugated self, and its impact on our identities in reflective supervision.

Learning Objectives:

  • Set an intention for incorporating a social justice approach to reflective practice in the workplace to support social justice, access, and equity during relationship-based work.

  • Identify, articulate, and acknowledge the impact of our multicultural identities, and the privileged and subjugated self within the supervisor-supervisee relationship during reflective practice.

  • Engage in experiential Reflective Practice learning activities to gain self-awareness and knowledge in using a Social Justice Approach to cultivate connection with peers, colleagues, and families to support their authentic multicultural identities.

Designed to meet the annual 3-hour training in Reflective Supervision/Consultation requirement for Endorsed Reflective Supervisors when renewing their Endorsement®.
