Listening with Compassion
Description:
The purpose of this training is to support clinicians in their therapeutic identity development in infant mental health. Working within the narrative framework, our life experiences, personal beliefs, and preferences for what constitutes a valued life serve as filters that allow certain ideas to be heard and others to be selected out.
Participants will learn skills and strategies including:
- Introducing a narrative approach through the “tuning the ear” metaphor for listening within reflective supervision and therapeutic practice
- How to be present and have multi-storied conversation for reflective practice
- Cultivating a deepening way of being in practice
- Distinguishing between “listening to” and “listening for”
Location: online via Zoom.
Zoom link info will be sent to paid registrants several times beginning one week before the training begins.
Open to: This training is for advanced practitioners such as mental health clinicians, mental health consultants, social workers, early intervention specialists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and nurse practitioners whose work with infants, young children, and their families especially those who aline with the Infant Mental Health Specialist or Infant Mental Health Mentor Endorsement categories.
Competency-based training supporting IMH Endorsement:
This training may meet the following IMH Competencies that are among the most commonly missing from professionals' Endorsement® applications:
- Theoretical Foundation: Relationship-based, therapeutic practice
